Chennai: Tamilnadu has recorded 35 new Covid-19 cases and zero virus-related deaths, as the active cases further dipped in the State.
Fresh infections were reported only in nine of the 38 districts in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
New cases remained in double digits in Chennai with 17 persons testing positive. The city’s overall tally stood at 7,51,086. Coimbatore and Kancheepuram logged four fresh cases each and Chengalpattu, Salem, Tiruvallur and Vellore reported two cases each. Karur and Namakkal registered one case each.
With 51 recoveries, the number of cured outnumbered new infections. While the total number of infected mounted to 34,52,825, those who have been cured of the virus are 34,14,494, a government bulletin here said.
Meanwhile, the State government on Thursday announced that the claimants in case of Covid-19 death occurred prior to 20 March 20, shall apply for an ex-gratia amount within 60 days (18 May).
