Chief Minister MK Stalin, has taken a strong stance against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of employing “diversionary politics” as their primary strategy. In a recent speech, he also criticized Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai for making controversial remarks about former Chief Minister CN Annadurai.
Stalin began by asserting that the BJP’s primary weapon in politics is the art of diversion. He claimed that the party tends to avoid addressing real issues and, when none exist, creates problems to distract the public’s attention.
One of the key points of contention was Annamalai’s statements about CN Annadurai, in which he alleged that Annadurai had insulted Hinduism during an event in Madurai in 1956. Stalin refuted this claim, stating that there is no historical evidence of Annadurai apologising to Muthuramalinga Thevar, a prominent figure in the Thevar community, as claimed by Annamalai. Stalin also pointed out that the Marudhamalai temple had electricity five years before the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) first came to power in Tamil Nadu, countering Annamalai’s assertion that the DMK had neglected the temple.
Stalin did not reserve his criticism solely for the BJP. He also accused the AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam), a rival party in Tamil Nadu, of joining hands with the BJP to spread false information. He emphasized that the lifespan of lies spread by these parties is short-lived when compared to the strength of the DMK’s ideology.
