Chief Minister M K Stalin has expressed his admiration for his son and Sports Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, for his dedicated efforts to strengthen the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party. In a letter addressed to party workers, Stalin highlighted Udhayanidhi’s significant contributions and urged all party members to ensure the success of the upcoming youth wing conference in Salem on December 17.
M K Stalin acknowledged the commendable work of Udhayanidhi Stalin in bolstering the DMK party. He pointed out that senior ministers and district secretaries have been lauding Udhayanidhi’s continuous involvement in party events and his diligent oversight of development projects throughout the state.
One of the noteworthy gestures by Udhayanidhi Stalin that received appreciation was his initiative to honor veteran party members with ‘porkizhi,’ which includes cash rewards. M K Stalin commended this practice as a sign of respect for the dedicated efforts of these veterans who have been actively working to counter “authoritarian forces and their supporters.” The Chief Minister urged party functionaries to replicate this practice across districts, towns, and villages, emphasizing the importance of young party members emulating the commitment and courage displayed by the experienced veterans.
M K Stalin also lauded Udhayanidhi Stalin for his leadership in the signature campaign against the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). The campaign, which aimed to collect 50 lakh signatures against NEET, was executed with the active involvement of the DMK’s youth wing, student wing, and health wing.
Meanwhile, Sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday visited the Congress headquarters (Sathyamoorthy Bhavan) here and sought the support of the DMK ally in the ongoing signature campaign against NEET. Udhayanidhi is set to approach other allies of the DMK as well in the ongoing signature campaign.
Udhayanidhi, on his maiden visit to Sathyamoorthy Bhavan, met Congress state president K S Alagiri and other senior Congress leaders in the office and handed over printed postcards to them. After filling in their names and signatures, they dropped the postcards in the boxes.
After meeting Congress leaders, Udhayanidhi said that more than 20 students had lost their lives due to NEET. “Starting from Anitha to Jagadeeswaran, 22 students have committed suicide in the state because of NEET. DMK made the electoral promise of abolishing NEET and we are working towards it,” said Udhayanidhi.
