In a significant political development, around 500 individuals, including former MP P.D. Elangovan and former AIADMK legislator V.T. Kalaiselvan, officially joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party. The momentous occasion took place in the presence of DMK President M.K. Stalin at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai on Friday.
P.D. Elangovan, a seasoned politician, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Dharmapuri in 1999 under the PMK banner. Over the years, he traversed various political affiliations before ultimately finding resonance with the DMK. His decision to align with the DMK underscores the party’s growing appeal and its inclusive approach to accommodating diverse voices within its fold.
Similarly, V.T. Kalaiselvan, a former AIADMK legislator who represented Virudhachalam in the Assembly from 2016, has chosen to join the DMK ranks. Kalaiselvan’s move reflects a shifting political landscape and signals a vote of confidence in the leadership and vision of M.K. Stalin.
The induction ceremony was graced by eminent DMK leaders, including General Secretary Duraimurugan, Treasurer T.R. Baalu, Principal Secretary K.N. Nehru, and other senior functionaries such as M.R.K. Panneerselvam, C.V. Ganesan, R.S. Bharathi, and T.K.S. Elangovan. Their presence further solidified the significance of the event and highlighted the unity and solidarity within the DMK cadre.
