BJP mum on Chinese invasion, says Thiruma

Thol Thirumavalavan, the chief of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), has criticized the BJP for its recent emphasis on retrieving land encroached by China while seemingly neglecting the longstanding Katchatheevu issue. Thirumavalavan labeled the BJP’s stance on Katchatheevu as mere political theater and questioned their competence in addressing the matter during their ten-year tenure at the Centre.
Speaking to reporters during campaigning in Ariyalur, a constituency within the Chidambaram (SC) constituency where he is contesting polls, Thirumavalavan accused the BJP of sowing seeds of communalism and religious division instead of prioritizing national security. He criticized the BJP’s failure to confront China’s encroachment on Indian territory, contrasting it with their focus on making the country “Congress and Kazhagam free.”
Thirumavalavan expressed skepticism over the BJP’s sudden interest in retrieving Katchatheevu, highlighting the party’s inability to address the issue while in power. He accused the BJP of hypocrisy, alleging that their actions undermined the nation’s sovereignty and security.
In a positive development, Thirumavalavan commended the Supreme Court for questioning the Election Commission of India regarding the 100% usage of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), viewing it as a source of solace amidst electoral uncertainties.
However, Thirumavalavan criticized the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) for aligning with the BJP, accusing them of betraying the interests of backward and minority communities by opposing reservation policies. He accused Dr. Ramdoss, the leader of PMK, of abandoning those he claims to represent by joining forces with a party that undermines their rights.
