An important initiative for government school students aspiring to pursue higher education will be launched on August 9th. The Tamil Nadu government is set to unveil the Tamil Pudhalvan scheme, a new program designed to support these students in their journey to higher studies.Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will officially launch the Tamil Pudhalvan scheme in Coimbatore. This new initiative is modeled after the successful Pudhumai Penn scheme, which provides financial support to female students who have studied in government schools from Class 6 through to their diploma or undergraduate courses. Under the Pudhumai Penn scheme, students receive Rs 1000 monthly until they complete their studies.
The Tamil Pudhalvan scheme aims to extend similar support to a broader group of students. To facilitate the process, the state government will organize camps at colleges to help students with essential procedures, including opening savings bank accounts. This is crucial as the financial assistance under the Tamil Pudhalvan scheme will be credited directly to the students’ bank accounts.
A senior official from the Higher Education Department confirmed that steps have been taken to ensure all beneficiaries have active savings bank accounts. The department plans to conduct these camps in collaboration with bank officials to assist students in opening accounts and applying for the benefits under the new scheme.
The launch of Tamil Pudhalvan is anticipated to provide significant support to students from government schools, ensuring they have the necessary financial resources and banking facilities to continue their education and achieve their academic goals.
