Washington, Aug 16: German attacking midfielder Marco Reus has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Major League Soccer (MLS) club LA Galaxy, the club announced on Thursday. The 35-year-old joins the American side as a free agent after an illustrious 12-year career with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
Reus, who left Dortmund at the end of last season, made his final appearance for the club in June during their Champions League final loss to Real Madrid. Throughout his time at Dortmund, he scored 170 goals in 429 appearances and served as captain for five years until 2023. Reus also represented Germany 48 times, netting 15 goals for his national team.
āFor Marco, a two-time Bundesliga Footballer of the Year, to join the Galaxy after playing his entire career in Germany is a testament to the project we are continuing to build at the club,ā said LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz.
Galaxy coach Greg Vanney added, āHe is a proven winner and leader whose talent and vision for the game will integrate seamlessly into the group as we prepare for the restart of the league and the run into the playoffs.ā
LA Galaxy currently tops the Western Conference, with Reus set to make his debut on August 25th in a home match against Atlanta United. His contract with the Galaxy will run until the end of the 2026 season.
