Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai criticized the ruling state government’s stance on language policy, labeling it “arrogance” for allowing only two languages and denying an opportunity to learn a third language.Speaking at an event in London, Annamalai highlighted BJPās recent performance in Tamil Nadu, stating that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured the first and second positions in 39% of polling stations and that the alliance achieved second place in 72 assembly constituencies. He further noted that postal votes favored the BJP over the AIADMK, emphasizing BJPās growing support across the state.
Annamalai stressed the importance of having a national party present in the state, arguing that only a national party can bring comprehensive development to the state. He expressed that the BJP views Tamil Naduās issues as part of global concerns, which is why a national perspective is crucial for the state. Despite Tamil Naduās DMK party securing all 39 seats in the state, he suggested their influence in the central government would remain minimal unless they adopt a broader, national perspective.
He also took a dig at political leaders advocating only for a two-language policy, noting that both the newly formed parties and even those with over 60 years of history continue to support it. According to Annamalai, the perspectives of people have changed, and they desire political parties with a national outlook. He welcomed any new party with a national vision, stating that it would have BJPās initial support.
Regarding the language policy, he criticized the government for denying students the opportunity to learn a third language, calling it āarrogance.ā He urged people to look beyond party lines and vote for leaders who can bring change to Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai concluded with a call for transformation in Tamil Naduās political landscape, emphasizing the need for broader, more inclusive policies that align with national development.
