A confession video of the accused in the infamous ECR car chase incident has ignited a political storm in Tamil Nadu. In the video, the accused denies any links with the ruling DMK but claims his relatives are affiliated with the opposition AIADMK.Reacting to the development, Tamil Nadu Law Minister S. Regupathy launched an attack on the AIADMK, accusing its members and families of crimes against women. He asserted that opposition leaders, who had earlier blamed the DMK, must now answer for the truth revealed in the video.
Meanwhile, the BJP has accused the Chennai Police of selectively releasing the confession video to shield the DMK, pointing out that the accused’s vehicle bore the ruling party’s flag. BJP state vice-president Narayanan Thirupathy called it a “serious violation” of the law and questioned whether the police were acting as judges. He criticized the move as “fascist” and alleged that the confession appeared scripted.
The controversy has deepened the political divide, with both the AIADMK and BJP questioning the credibility of the video and the motives behind its release.
