Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly condemned the recent hike in domestic LPG cylinder prices, urging the Union government to withdraw the increase immediately.
In a statement, Stalin criticized the BJP-led central government for burdening the public despite the global decline in crude oil prices.
“Should the peopleās stoves burn, or should their stomachs burn? If the government cannot help, at least it should refrain from causing hardship,” he remarked, accusing the Union government of pushing citizens into a state where they are forced to plead for stable fuel prices.
Stalin further pointed out that while the government refuses to reduce petrol and diesel prices despite falling crude oil rates, it has now added to the burden by hiking LPG prices.
“This LPG price hike is like rubbing salt into a wound. The BJP has made it a habit to impose steep price hikes and then reduce them slightly before elections to create a false sense of relief. Unfortunately, people have become used to this drama.”
He demanded that the price increase be reversed immediately instead of waiting for an election-driven reduction.
