An Indian Army jawan posted on the Indo-Bhutan border has appealed for urgent intervention by the Tamil Nadu government and officials. He alleged that a group of six men attacked his wife and mother in Tamil Naduās Ramanathapuram district. The jawan, Murali Jegan from Mudhukulathur, urged the District Superintendent of Police and Chief Minister MK Stalin to take immediate action.Jegan, who joined the Army in 2020, said he had built a house in Thanjavur districtās Enathi area in 2016. His wife Uma Rani and mother Muthumeena recently approached Kadaladi village officials, claiming that Jeganās uncle, identified as Ramachandran, was attempting to illegally take over the property. Following this, on May 7, Uma Rani and Muthumeena were allegedly assaulted and hospitalised after being attacked by six individuals reportedly linked to Ramachandran.
Although a case was registered against four individuals in connection with the attack, a counter-complaint led to a case being filed against Uma Rani and Muthumeena as well. āWe filed a case against six people, but an FIR has not been filed against two of those who attacked and threatened us,ā said Uma Rani.
From his post on the Bhutan border, Jegan claimed that his uncleās influence was obstructing proper legal action. āIām presently at the Bhutan border and, due to the current situation, Iām unable to return. After threats from my uncleās son, my mother filed a complaint with Kadaladi Police Station, but no action has been taken yet,ā he said in an emotional appeal.
āRamachandran, his wife Keladi and three others have brutally attacked my wife and mother. They are both in hospital. Iām not able to hold back my tears. There is evidence of this attack. If you donāt take action, I donāt know what I can do. My officer even spoke to the Sub-Inspector, but there has been no proper response. I am not getting leave, so I seek your help,ā he added.
