Chennai, July 6:
Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman has strongly objected to the reported portrayal of Lord Murugan in an upcoming Telugu film, cautioning filmmakers against distorting Tamil history, culture, and religious beliefs.
In a statement issued, Seeman expressed concern over a promotional video linked to a project under the NTRâTrivikram banner in Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that the film attempts to depict Lord Murugan as having originated in north India, a claim he termed as a serious historical and cultural misrepresentation.
Emphasising Muruganâs deep roots in Tamil civilisation, Seeman cited references from ancient Tamil literature, including Tolkappiyam, Tirumurugatrupadai, and Sangam-era works such as Ettuthokai, to assert that the deity is intrinsically linked to Tamil identity and tradition.
The NTK leader urged the filmmakers to drop any such storyline and cautioned that the party would launch large-scale protests if the film is released with the disputed depiction. He also appealed to theatre owners and the Tamil Nadu government to intervene, citing potential law-and-order concerns.
