Chennai, July 6:
VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan has called for an inquiry into allegations of political horse-trading involving the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), urging Governor R.N. Ravi Arlekar to take immediate action if the claims are proven true.
Responding to complaints submitted by the BJP, DMK, and AIADMK to the Governor, Thirumavalavan said that any such allegations must be thoroughly investigated. âIf the allegations are true, action must be taken. If the Governor has the authority, he should intervene immediately,â he stated.
On remarks by TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna suggesting a possible merger of AIADMK with the ruling party, Thirumavalavan refrained from direct comment, saying such questions should be addressed to the concerned parties. He, however, raised concerns about the democratic and ethical implications of such claims.
Questioning the silence of AIADMK leadership amid reports of defections, he asked why the party had not responded strongly to allegations of attempts to poach its members. He also criticised the party for limiting its response to petitions rather than taking the issue to the public.
On the proposed âOne Nation, One Electionâ legislation, Thirumavalavan reiterated that the VCK would continue to oppose the move in Parliament, along with the DMK, Congress, and Left parties, maintaining its earlier stand against the proposal.
