Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan has confirmed that his party will press for additional seats in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. However, he emphasized this push would not disrupt the DMK-led INDIA alliance Speaking at Tiruchirappalli ahead of the party’s “Save Secularism” rally, Thirumavalavan said VCK will engage in seat-sharing discussions with the DMK. He stressed that alliance unity and strength remain the top priority, even as VCK aims to increase its representation
He reiterated that this election is primarily about curbing the growth of religious politics in the state, not about forming a coalition government—which is VCK’s long-term goal. Comparing the BJP-AIADMK alliance to India’s secular bloc, he warned that BJP’s influence is rising via AIADMK and must be challenged
Thirumavalavan also dismissed rumours of alliance instability. He noted that VCK has been allied with the DMK for years and has no intention of leaving. He acknowledged VCK currently holds six seats but affirmed it would “happily retain” them while respectfully negotiating for more during the next polls
With VCK reinforcing its commitment to ideology-driven politics and seat-sharing harmony, the INDIA alliance moves forward united, with a shared agenda to counter communal forces in Tamilnadu.
