Chennai, Apr 22:
On the final day of campaigning ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls on Tursday, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin struck an emotional chord with voters in his stronghold Kolathur, describing the constituency as his “cherished child” and reaffirming his deep personal connect with the people.
Addressing a gathering, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president highlighted the long-standing relationship he shares with Kolathur, a constituency he has represented for over a decade.
Emphasising his commitment to its development, Stalin recalled the various welfare initiatives and infrastructure projects implemented in the area during his tenure.
Kolathur, widely regarded as Stalin’s political fortress, has emerged as a focal point in the ongoing election, with the outcome here seen as a reflection of public sentiment towards his leadership.
In his speech, Stalin appealed to voters to continue their support, assuring that the progress witnessed in the constituency would be further accelerated. He also positioned the election as a decisive moment not just for Kolathur, but for the future direction of Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister’s remarks came amid an intense, high-decibel campaign across the State, with major political parties making last-minute appeals to voters. With campaigning now concluded, attention shifts to polling day, where Kolathur is expected to once again be closely watched as a key battleground.
The emotionally charged appeal underscores the significance of Kolathur in the larger electoral narrative, as Tamil Nadu heads into one of its most closely contested elections in recent years.
