London, July 14:  Lord’s Cricket Ground witnessed a gripping fourth day of the third Test between India and England, as India ended on a precarious 58/4, chasing a target of 193 for victory. The match is now poised for a thrilling conclusion on day five, with both teams vying for supremacy.
India’s bowlers, particularly Washington Sundar, were instrumental in bundling out England for 192 in their second innings. Sundar showcased an exceptional performance with his off-spin, claiming four crucial wickets. Supported by the pace duo of Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, who made early inroads and cleaned up the tail respectively, India managed to keep England’s lead within a chaseable range.
However, India’s batting line-up faltered in the evening session, losing key wickets that have made the final day chase a daunting task. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, captain Shubman Gill, and night watchman Akash Deep were all dismissed, leaving KL Rahul as the unbeaten batsman at stumps. England’s Brydon Carse was particularly effective with the ball, picking up the important wickets of Nair and Gill.
Earlier in the day, England’s innings saw a notable partnership between Joe Root and Ben Stokes, but Washington Sundar’s timely breakthroughs prevented them from building a substantial lead. Siraj’s impressive morning spell had reduced England to 98 for four by lunch, and Nitish Reddy also chipped in with a vital wicket.
With 135 runs still needed and six wickets in hand, India faces a significant challenge on the final day. The match promises to be a captivating contest, with all to play for as both teams push for a decisive win.
