Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu recently praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing his emergence as a global leader despite not having attended a “convent” school. Naidu suggested that a Western education is not a prerequisite for achieving greatness. These remarks were made during the 14th International Indian Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Tamil Nadu Conference 2025, hosted at the Anna Centenary Library. In his keynote speech, Naidu underscored the critical importance of preserving Indian culture, honoring one’s heritage, and giving precedence to the mother tongue.
He also urged young Indian students pursuing education abroad to return to their homeland, highlighting the significance of family ties. Naidu advocated for a harmonious balance between modernity and tradition, encouraging students to engage with global challenges while remaining rooted in Indian values, such as practicing yoga and consuming nutritious home-cooked food.
Naidu further noted India’s ascent to become the world’s fourth-largest economy under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, describing the nation as a “talent factory.” The event was also attended by India’s former UN ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, actress Keerthi Pandian, and IIMUN founder Rishabh Shah, among other notable personalities.
