The Madras High Court has ruled that courts cannot be allowed to be used as political platforms. The court rejected a petition challenging three new criminal laws introduced by the central government, which were opposed by DMK leaders on grounds of procedural lapses and constitutional conflicts.
The judges observed that proper legislative procedures must be followed and any objections to the laws should be addressed through appropriate channels, not through politicized court cases. The court also refused to admit an intervening plea by DMK, emphasizing that the judiciary should not be turned into a stage for political battles.
The hearing was adjourned to the third week of the next month, affirming the court’s stance against politicization of judicial proceedings.
