Recently, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Mohan Bhagwat reiterated that the core mission of the organisation is national development — not power or political control, but the progress and well-being of the country.
Speaking at a public gathering in Chennai, he emphasised that building and improving one’s nation is the responsibility of every citizen, and by doing so, individuals ultimately safeguard their own interests too.
Bhagwat clarified that the RSS is not driven by a desire for dominance — “our aim is not power,” he said — but by the vision of a united, disciplined, and value-based society committed to the nation’s long-term progress.
He added that the organisation focuses on “man-making and social organisation,” believing that strengthening society — morally, culturally and socially — is the foundation for a strong nation.
According to Bhagwat, a prosperous and secure country depends on citizens who believe in service, unity and collective responsibility — values the RSS claims to embody.
