
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a major public meeting in Maduranthakam today, marking a high-profile political event ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The rally is being seen as the formal launch of the NDA’s poll campaign in the State.
All NDA alliance partners are expected to attend the event, which is likely to draw a large crowd and showcase opposition unity against the ruling DMK.
Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place across Chengalpattu district. A three-day ban on drones and unmanned aerial vehicles has been enforced till January 23 in view of the Prime Minister’s visit.
Modi is scheduled to arrive in Chennai this afternoon and fly by helicopter to Maduranthakam, where he will address the gathering between 3.00 pm and 4.15 pm, before returning to Chennai.
Senior NDA leaders including AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, TMC chief G.K. Vasan, AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran, IJK leader Pari Vendhar, and other alliance representatives are expected to share the stage with the Prime Minister, projecting strength and solidarity within the bloc.
