Mariana L Neisuler has assumed charge as the Consul General of the United States in Chennai, beginning her tenure on March 2. The appointment marks a new phase in diplomatic engagement between the United States and southern India, with the Consul General expected to focus on strengthening economic, business and cultural ties in the region.
Speaking after taking charge at the United States Consulate General Chennai, Neisuler said she was honoured to represent the United States in southern India at what she described as a pivotal moment in the bilateral relationship. “I’m honored to represent the United States in southern India during this pivotal moment in our bilateral relationship. Under President Donald Trump, Secretary Marco Rubio, and Ambassador Gor’s leadership, we are focused on strengthening partnerships that deliver real results for both Americans and Indians,” she said.
Neisuler added that she looks forward to expanding trade ties, supporting American businesses and fostering stronger people-to-people connections between the two countries. Before taking up her assignment in Chennai, Neisuler served as the Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the United States Embassy Tashkent in Tashkent. Her diplomatic career also includes postings as Deputy Economic Counselor at the U.S. embassies in Jerusalem and Amman. In addition, she has served in diplomatic assignments in Washington, D.C., Dubai, Skopje and Moscow. Officials said her experience in political and economic diplomacy is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the United States and the southern states of India in areas such as trade, business partnerships, education and cultural exchanges.
