AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has accused Chief Minister M. K. Stalin of criticising the proposed special Parliament session on the Women’s Reservation Bill due to a “fear of defeat” in the upcoming elections.
EPS alleged that Stalin’s opposition to the session was politically motivated and aimed at diverting attention, rather than based on genuine concern over the legislation.
He claimed that the DMK leadership was uncomfortable with the growing support for the bill and was attempting to create confusion among the public.
The remarks come amid an escalating political exchange between the AIADMK and DMK over the Centre’s move to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss women’s reservation.
Stalin had earlier criticised the timing and intent of the session, arguing that it was being used for political gains and should be implemented without conditions like delimitation.
