Tiruvallur, Apr 27: Authorities in Tiruvallur district have enforced a strict ban on drone usage within a 3-kilometre radius of key vote-counting centres to ensure heightened security during the counting of votes.

District Collector M. Prathap said the move is aimed at safeguarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and maintaining law and order during the crucial counting process.

At Sevvapet near Tiruvallur, counting will be held at the Government Polytechnic College for constituencies including Gummidipoondi, Ponneri (SC), Tiruvallur, and Tiruttani.

At Perumalpattu, counting for Avadi, Maduravoyal, Tiruvottiyur, Poonamallee (SC), Ambattur, and Madhavaram will take place at Sri Ram Vidya Mandir Matric Higher Secondary School and the Sri Ram Polytechnic College campus.

Authorities have put in place multi-layered security arrangements at both centres, including surveillance systems and controlled access points, to prevent any untoward incidents.

Strict Action for Violations
Officials have warned that any violation of the drone ban will invite strict legal action, underlining the administration’s commitment to conducting a secure and transparent counting process.
