Chennai, July 16:

Continuing its administrative overhaul, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday carried out a significant reshuffle of senior IAS officers, including four officials in the rank of Additional Chief Secretary. The move is part of an ongoing effort by the State government to realign key departments and strengthen governance through strategic postings.

Among the prominent changes, J. Radhakrishnan, who served as chairman and managing director of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), has been appointed Director General of the Anna Institute of Management. He will be succeeded by V. Arun Roy, previously Secretary to the Higher Education Department, who takes charge as the new CMD of TNEB.

In another key development, Supriya Sahu has been moved from her role as Environment, Climate Change and Forest Department Secretary and appointed Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development. She will be replaced by Kakarla Usha, who shifts from the Public Department to head the environment portfolio. Meanwhile, E. Sundaravalli has been elevated as Secretary to the Public Department.

The reshuffle also sees P. Umanath, recently moved from the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, taking over as Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce. Additionally, Additional Chief Secretary Pradeep Yadav has been transferred from the Information Technology and Digital Services Department to head the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department.

Further changes include Atul Anand being appointed Secretary of the Information Technology Department, while Dheeraj Kumar takes over as Higher Education Secretary. Nirmal Raj has been posted as Secretary to the Transport Department, and Sigy Thomas Vaidhyan has been named Transport Commissioner.

In the field administration, M. Vallalar has been appointed Labour Commissioner, while R. Gajalakshmi assumes charge as Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise. D. Baskara Pandian has been transferred as Director of Museums.

The extensive reshuffle, ordered by Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, signals the government’s intent to recalibrate administrative priorities and bring experienced officers into crucial roles across departments.
