New York, Sept 30:
India-China relations are better today than they were a couple of years ago, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, pointing to progress following the resolution of the border standoff.
Speaking at an event hosted by Asia Society in New York, Jaishankar said the relationship had improved compared with both 2025 and 2024. He attributed the improvement in part to the stabilisation of the situation after the prolonged border tensions that followed the 2020 confrontation.
Jaishankar said the border standoff had affected normal contacts between the two countries, including official exchanges, visa issuance and flights, although trade continued.
He said the recent improvement was a natural consequence of resolving the border-related difficulties. India-China relations have also seen increased engagement recently, including Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India for the BRICS Leaders’ Summit hosted by New Delhi.
