Chennai,Oct 22:
The Tamil Nadu Highways Department has invited tenders to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a proposed 4-km elevated corridor connecting Lighthouse with the Thiru Vi Ka Bridge across the Adyar River in Chennai.
The proposed corridor is planned along one of the city’s important coastal road stretches, from Lighthouse near Marina Beach to the Thiru Vi Ka Bridge. The project is expected to be studied as a possible measure to ease traffic congestion along the Marina Beach Road and adjoining stretches.
The tender has been floated by the Chennai City Roads Division-I of the Highways Department. The estimated cost of preparing the DPR is Rs 38.10 lakh, and the selected agency will be given 60 days to complete the assignment.
The tender stipulates an earnest money deposit of Rs 29,500, payable through electronic bank guarantee (eBG). There is no tender fee, and Class II and above contractors are eligible to participate.
The DPR is expected to examine the technical and feasibility aspects of the proposed elevated road. The tender marks an initial step towards evaluating the project; the final design, cost and implementation details will depend on the report and subsequent government decisions.
