Chennai: Actor Kottayam Pradeep passed away earlier today in Kottayam in Kerala due to a heart attack. Pradeep was 61.
Pradeep, who is also a theatre and television artist, started acting right from his school days. After taking part in many cultural events, he debuted as a child artiste in Class 10 in a drama of legendary playwright and director NN Pillai.
He continued with drama even after joining the Life Insurance Corporation. Pradeep has acted in over 70 films, excelling particularly in comedy roles.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that even in very small roles, Pradeep created his own space in the industry.
In Tamil, he acted in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya. His performance in Atlee’s Raja Rani won him accolades. He was part of Vijay-starrer Theri too.
The last movie featuring Pradeep, titled Papam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte, was released in 2020.
