Chennai: Stepping up his attack on the BJP for alleged attempts to impose Hindi, Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin said the national party was aiming to create an ‘imaginary India’ by neglecting the States.

Speaking at a public meeting on Sunday at Maraimalainagar near Chennai, Stalin said the Dravidian movement had shattered the lies propagated to impose Hindi in the past and it would do so even now.

The meeting was organised to explain the salient features of the TN Budget and to thank voters for the electoral victory in urban local body polls.

Only on Saturday, Stalin said India cannot be saved unless the States are saved. He lambasted the Narendra Modi government’s ‘authoritarianism’ at the CPM party congress in Kannur, Kerala.

Stalin accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi administration of trying to arrogate to itself all powers, even seeking to control from Delhi the cooperative societies in villages.

Accusing the Centre of being ‘power hungry’, which misused the office of Governor in opposition ruled states and for making state governments to ‘plead with the Centre’ for funds, Stalin appealed to secular parties to emulate DMK’s broad based coalition in Tamilnadu and join hands at the national level to take on the BJP and usher in a truly federal India.
