Chennai: IIT-Madras has become a Covid cluster as the Covid count in the campus went up to 60, even as the Tamilnadu government came on high alert.
Health Minister, Ma Subramanian, along with Principal Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan and senior department officials, inspected the IIT-M campus to take stock of the situation.
They urged the students to monitor their health and said if they experience any kind of discomfort they should immediately alert the authorities concerned.
In a video shared by the Health department, Radhakrishnan is seen interacting with the students. ‘Do not worry. The IIT-M has taken all measures for your safety. There is also a reserve hospital within 3 km radius from here (King Institute of Preventve Medicine and Research). At this point in time, no one requires hospitalisation. Everyone is identified with mild symptoms…but at the same time you should not be overconfident,’ Radhakrishnan is seen telling them in the clip.
‘We are following the ICMR guidelines for the treatment and management of the positive cases. The approved drugs are being used for the treatment and there is no cause of concern on clinical management,’ he said.
