Chief Minister MK Stalin of Tamil Nadu has taken a decisive step to address a long-standing issue concerning government advocates in the state. He issued an order to increase the pay for government advocates who argue cases in favor of the Tamil Nadu government. This decision comes after a decade of their remuneration remaining unchanged. An official press release has confirmed that the pay structure for government advocates representing the state government in various courts, including district courts, district munsif courts, additional district munsif courts, and other subordinate courts, has seen no adjustment for the past ten years. Over 700 advocates actively work on various cases in the interest of the state government within these courtrooms.
The call for a pay increase for these dedicated government advocates was initiated by the State Public Prosecutor, Hasan Mohammed Jinnah. Recognizing the necessity of enhancing their compensation, Chief Minister MK Stalin responded by ordering a substantial 100% pay hike. This decision was presented to a group of government advocates on Monday, marking a crucial step toward ensuring fair remuneration for their services.
