BJP State president K Annamalai emphasised the need for a neutral stance by the State government regarding the entertainment industry, particularly films. Annamalai expressed concerns over the harassment faced by film actors over the last two decades in the state. He asserted that “Cinema should reach everywhere without any hindrance,” emphasising the importance of an impartial government approach to these matters.
Additionally, Annamalai hinted at the BJP’s electoral strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, stating that the party’s MPs from Tamil Nadu will be sent to Parliament. The BJP plans to seek votes by highlighting the achievements of the Central government over the past nine years.
During a subsequent address to party cadre during his padayatra, Annamalai criticized the ruling DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) government. He claimed that the DMK had not undertaken significant welfare initiatives for the people of Tamil Nadu, focusing primarily on the opening of over 5,000 Tasmac shops. Furthermore, Annamalai alleged that the DMK’s main objective was to make Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin the Chief Minister.
Announcing various projects initiated by the Union government for Erode, Annamalai emphasized the Central government’s commitment to the region’s development. He cited initiatives such as the Jal Jeevan Mission, aimed at ensuring access to clean drinking water for all. However, he criticised the DMK for allegedly attempting to overshadow these projects.
