In a fiery campaign rally in Kancheepuram, Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning his dedication to state rights and cooperative federalism while highlighting Tamil Nadu’s struggle for relief assistance in the aftermath of recent floods.Stalin accused Prime Minister Modi of failing to fulfill promises of relief assistance following devastating floods in the Kancheepuram and Chennai regions last December. Despite assurances from Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tamil Nadu has yet to receive the promised funds, prompting the state government to seek redress through the Supreme Court.
The Chief Minister lambasted Modi for what he described as a pattern of neglect and indifference towards states’ needs, alleging that the Prime Minister’s actions have forced every state to resort to legal avenues for justice and funding. Stalin asserted that Modi’s rhetoric on state rights and cooperative federalism rings hollow in the face of Tamil Nadu’s struggles.
Challenging Modi’s assertion of a strong anti-DMK wave in Tamil Nadu, Stalin dismissed the claim as a “daydream,” expressing confidence in the DMK’s enduring popularity and asserting that the BJP’s growth in the state would remain stunted for years to come.
Stalin also took aim at Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami, questioning his reluctance to unequivocally disavow support for the BJP post-elections. He criticized Palaniswami for his ambiguous stance, suggesting that a vote for the AIADMK could indirectly benefit the BJP, further emphasizing the ideological divide between the DMK and the ruling AIADMK-BJP alliance.
