The Tamil Nadu government has issued a call to non-resident Tamils, urging them to register with the Non-Residential Tamils Welfare Board to gain access to various welfare schemes. This initiative aims to support Tamils living abroad and those residing in other Indian states.
Eligible Tamils, aged between 18 and 55, can register online at the official website https://nrtamils.tn.gov.in. The registration process requires a one-time fee of Rs 200, which will be waived for those who complete their registration within three months from May 15, 2024. Membership must be renewed every three years to continue accessing the benefits.
The welfare schemes available to registered members include insurance coverage, educational assistance, and marriage aid. This initiative is open to Tamils with an Indian passport who are working or studying abroad, as well as those who have been residing in other Indian states for more than six months.
For more information and assistance, individuals can contact the helplines provided: 18003093793 for those within India, 8069009901 for those abroad, and 8069009900 for a missed call service.
By encouraging non-resident Tamils to register, the Tamil Nadu government aims to extend its support and provide essential services to its diaspora, enhancing their well-being and connection with their home state.
