Yogi Babu, fresh from his lead role in Radha Mohan’s web series Chutney Sambar, is eagerly awaiting the release of his upcoming film Malai. Directed by debutant IP Murugesh, Malai also stars Lakshmi Menon in a pivotal role. The film, which has been in production since 2022, is now slated for a September release, although the exact date is yet to be announced.
Malai centers around the intense conflict between nature and humanity, exploring the consequences of human selfishness from the perspective of the natural world. The storyline follows a young city doctor, portrayed by Lakshmi Menon, who finds herself in a rural setting. Her interactions with a local, fake village doctorâplayed by Yogi Babuâlead to various conflicts that drive the narrative forward. The film delves into human emotions and challenges preconceived notions people have about lifestyles and environments they are unfamiliar with
The film also features Kaali Venkat in a significant role, with supporting performances from Singam Puli and Ramachandran. The lush landscapes of Theni serve as the primary backdrop for the film’s narrative, with cinematography by Theni Eswar capturing the region’s natural beauty.
