Former Tamil Nadu BJP President and current Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has criticized the DMK government, alleging that women in the state cannot freely wear a dupatta, questioning the administration’s effectiveness.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Tamilisai accused the DMK government of showing bias in granting permission for protests. “Opposition protests are rarely allowed, but if it is a DMK protest, permission is granted immediately. This government is acting like a dictatorship,” she alleged.
Referring to the permission granted to MDMK leader Vaiko for a protest over the tungsten mining issue, she said, “Even for an issue that is long resolved, protests are being allowed. But when opposition parties want to highlight real problems, their requests are denied.”
Tamilisai criticized the DMK’s protest against Governor RN Ravi, calling it unjustified. “The Governor expressed his concerns about the disrespect shown to the national anthem, but DMK organizes protests against him. Is law and order only upheld during DMK protests?” she questioned.
She further accused the DMK of using protests as a distraction from ongoing issues in the state. “The DMK is staging protests to divert attention from burning issues in Tamil Nadu. This is unacceptable,” she said.
Addressing the sexual harassment allegations at Anna University, Tamilisai pointed out the DMK’s silence on the matter. “A woman faced harassment, but no one from the DMK has spoken up for justice. Kanimozhi asks why protests are needed when an inquiry is already underway. If that’s the case, why is DMK protesting against the Governor after he has already clarified his stance?”
