Chennai: Officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Income Tax Department conducted a raid at the residence of a businessman named Yaqub in Chennai’s Royapettah.
Yaqub, 55, is engaged in the real estate business and resides on Puram Prakasam Road in Royapettah. The raid began around 9:30 PM last night, with NIA and Income Tax officials thoroughly searching his house.
Sources indicate that authorities seized ₹50 lakh in unaccounted cash along with several crucial documents. Officials stated that the raid was conducted based on allegations of tax evasion and suspected financial links to a terrorist organization. Further investigations are underway.
