More family movies like Tourist Family should come: Sasikumar

The cast and crew of Tourist Family came together for a joyous success meet that felt more like a thanksgiving gathering. The family entertainer, which has emerged as a surprise box office winner, was celebrated for its emotional depth, collaborative spirit, and powerful performances.

Music director Sean Roldan, who composed for the film, expressed gratitude to the media for championing good cinema. “When a film is honest, the media ensures it reaches the people. I’m thankful for that,” he said. Acknowledging his team, he added, “I owe it all to my assistants — especially Sabari and Ashwin. This film was made with love, and it shows.” He praised debut director Abishan Jeevinth for delivering such a mature film with an experienced cast and called it an honour to compose for a project that featured legend Simran. He also remarked that the film brought much-deserved recognition to Sasikumar.

Director Abishan Jeevinth, visibly moved, thanked the media and audience. “When I went to watch my own film with my family, I couldn’t get tickets — that made me happiest,” he said. He also extended heartfelt thanks to his producers and mentors. “Sasikumar sir has done more than he knows. Sean anna helped me fight my negativity. And working with Simran ma’am was a dream,” he said.

Veteran actress Simran shared that she instantly knew Tourist Family would be a superhit when she heard the script over Zoom. “This film made me feel emotional. I’ve been in this industry for 30 years, and Sasikumar was so kind—he even taught me Sri Lankan Tamil along with the director. Sean Roldan is truly the soul of this film,” she said.

Actor Sasikumar, visibly humbled by the film’s success, called the event a “thanksgiving meet.” “After many years, I feel like I’ve had a true victory. But this isn’t my win alone — this is a win for those who have faced failures and needed hope,” he said. He revealed that Tourist Family surpassed the collections of his past hits Kutti Puli and Sundarapandian. He also spoke fondly of Simran, stating, “We all agreed that she must be treated like a queen — for all that she has done for Tamil cinema, and I hope we did just that.”

The team concluded the event by expressing that Tourist Family is not just their success — but a win for Tamil cinema, reinforcing the power of heartfelt, family-centric storytelling.
