In a move prioritizing passenger safety and the smooth operation of train services, the railway authorities have announced partial cancellations of several EMU train services on 1st June 2025. This is due to ongoing engineering works requiring a line block and signal block on the Chennai Egmore – Villupuram section, specifically at Kattangulathur Yard. The block will be in effect from 11:45 hrs to 15:15 hrs, lasting for 3 hours and 30 minutes.
As a result, train services between Guduvancheri and Chengalpattu, as well as between Tambaram and Chengalpattu, will experience partial cancellations during the specified time. Four EMU local trains from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu, scheduled to depart at 11:00, 11:45, 12:30, and 13:45 hrs, will be partially canceled between Guduvancheri and Chengalpattu. Similarly, the 12:45 hrs train from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu will be partially canceled between Tambaram and Chengalpattu.
On the return route, EMU local trains departing Chengalpattu for Chennai Beach at 12:00, 13:00, 13:50, and 15:05 hrs will be partially canceled between Chengalpattu and Guduvancheri. Additionally, the train leaving Chengalpattu at 14:25 hrs will be partially canceled between Chengalpattu and Tambaram.
Passengers planning to travel on these routes during the affected hours are advised to take note of these changes and make alternative arrangements if necessary. The railway authorities apologize for the inconvenience caused and request passengers’ understanding and cooperation as these engineering works are essential to maintaining the safety and efficiency of train operations.
