Chennai, June 28:
A MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train heading towards Katpadi was disrupted near Arakkonam on Thursday evening after a section of the railway track developed a crack. The incident happened around 9 PM.
One of the coaches of the train tilted slightly due to the track damage. However, there was no derailment, and all passengers are safe.
Railway officials confirmed that the issue was caused by a track fracture, likely due to high temperatures. Train services on the Arakkonam–Katpadi route were temporarily halted as a safety measure. Express trains were diverted through alternate lines to avoid major delays.
Repair works were started immediately by the railway team, and safety checks are being carried out before restoring normal services.
