A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Tamil director Pa Ranjith following the tragic death of veteran stuntman S. Mohanraj, also known as SM Raju, during the shoot of the film Vettuvam.The incident occurred on July 13 near Nagapattinam, where Mohanraj was performing a dangerous car-toppling stunt. The vehicle launched off a ramp but lost control and crashed. Though he was rushed for medical help, Mohanraj died at a nearby hospital.
The FIR has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Along with director Pa Ranjith, the police have named the film’s stunt choreographer, production manager, and car owner Prabhakaran in the case.
In a statement, Ranjith said he was deeply shocked and saddened by the incident. He claimed that all required safety measures were in place during the stunt.
