Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced the establishment of the Chennai Institute of Journalism (CIJ), with an allotment of Rs 7.75 crore for this initiative. The institute aims to offer a PG Diploma Course in Journalism to encourage young individuals interested in the field.The CIJ will be located in the capital city and is slated to commence its courses from the 2025-26 academic year. Its primary objective is to provide affordable journalism courses that are aligned with emerging technologies for the youth of the state.
N. Ravi, former editor-in-chief of The Hindu, has been appointed as the head of the administrative committee for the institute. Additionally, AS Panneerselvam, former Reader’s Editor of The Hindu newspaper, will serve as the principal director.
