AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has promised to bring back two popular welfare schemes if his party comes to power in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking at a meeting in Tenkasi, he said the AIADMK would restart the free laptop scheme for students and the Amma Mini Clinic project. He accused the DMK government of stopping these schemes out of “political jealousy.”
Palaniswami said the laptop scheme had given free laptops to 52.35 lakh students at a cost of about ₹7,500 crore. He also spoke about other projects by the AIADMK, like crop loan waivers for farmers and cleaning ponds under the “Kudimaramathu” scheme.
He criticised the DMK government, saying law and order had worsened. He alleged there was a rise in drug sales and crimes against women.
