Tamil Nadu Congress President Selvaperundhagai has accused the BJP government at the Centre of trying to take away the rights of minorities. He said the government is targeting Muslims by removing their religious and property rights, including powers of the Waqf Board. He called this an attempt to weaken minority communities.
Selvaperundhagai recalled Dr. B.R. Ambedkarâs warning that mixing religion with politics could put Indiaâs freedom in danger again.
He pointed out that laws like CAA, NRC, UCC, removal of Article 370, and rules against madrasas are aimed at one community. He said these steps go against the principles of democracy.
He welcomed the Supreme Courtâs recent decision to stay parts of the Waqf Amendment Act. He called it a historic ruling that protects constitutional and religious rights.
Selvaperundhagai strongly condemned the BJP governmentâs actions and said the Congress will continue to fight to safeguard minority rights.
