The NDA has formed a delegation headed by actress and MP Hema Malini to visit Karur, where 41 people died in a recent stampede during a political event.The team will meet victims’ families, review the situation on the ground, and later submit a report to the BJP leadership.
Apart from Hema Malini, the delegation includes Anurag Thakur, Tejasvi Surya, Prahlad Joshi, Srikant Shinde (Shiv Sena), Aparajita Sarangi, Rekha Sharma, and Putta Mahesh Kumar (TDP).
The BJP said the delegation was being sent to understand the circumstances of the tragedy and ensure the voices of affected people are heard. The Tamil Nadu government has already ordered a judicial inquiry, while the Centre has sought a separate report on the incident.
