Tamilaga Vettri Kazhgam chief Vijay on Sunday resumed his campaign for the 2026 Assembly election after a break of nearly two months following the tragic Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives.Speaking at an indoor auditorium in Sunguvarchattiram, near Kanchipuram district, Vijay targeted the ruling DMK, accusing it of ‘loot’ and indirectly leveling allegations of dynasty politics against the party.
Vijay slammed the DMK for questioning the ideology of his fledgling party, asserting that the TVK was founded on solid ideological foundations based on equality. He highlighted that the TVK has consistently demanded a caste census as part of its agenda. Vijay also accused the DMK of making “empty claims” on ending NEET examinations, while his party advocates for shifting education from the concurrent list to the state list under the Constitution for greater state control.
He further criticized the DMK for deceiving the public by securing votes through lies and now acting as if doing good governance.
Vijay stressed that his party is committed to questioning the ruling party and holding it accountable, saying, “How can we not question them? We are not going to stop questioning them.”
This marked Vijay’s first public address since the Karur tragedy, signaling a determined return to active campaigning as the state prepares for the upcoming assembly elections.
