The AIADMK announced the observance of 9th death anniversary of former Chief Minister and J. Jayalalithaa on December 5.
An AIADMK release said her death in 2016 remains an irreplaceable loss to the people of Tamil Nadu.
Her life and leadership continue to guide crores of people across the state. Amma’s tenure as Chief Minister marked a golden era that transformed Tamil Nadu through pioneering schemes in social welfare, women’s empowerment, children’s nutrition, education, healthcare, law and order, agriculture, and poverty alleviation. Her legacy of governance remains unmatched, and the benefits of the schemes she created continue to uplift people even today. The people of Tamil Nadu, especially women, students, the poor, farmers, workers, and the most marginalised, continue to feel her absence deeply, even nine years after her passing.
To mark the solemn occasion, the party announced that state-wide homage events will be organised on December 5 across all districts, towns, municipalities, panchayats, and grassroots units of the AIADMK.
In Chennai, AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) will pay floral tributes at Ms Jayalalithaa’s memorial on the Marina Beach front.
Senior leaders, MPs, MLAs, district secretaries, office-bearers of all wings, cadres and supporters from across the state will participate in large numbers.
The AIADMK has urged all cadres and members of the public to gather at the Marina on that day to honour the memory of a leader who dedicated her life to the welfare and dignity of Tamil Nadu’s people.
Similar functions will be organized by all units of the party in all the states and Union territories too, where party functionaries will be paying floral tributes to the portrait of Jayalalitha.
