Just weeks before its much‑anticipated Pongal release, Sivakarthikeyan’s period drama Parasakthi has been embroiled in a plagiarism controversy, raising questions about whether the film will hit theatres as planned on January 10, 2026.Directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Dawn Pictures, Parasakthi — starring Sivakarthikeyan alongside Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela — was scheduled for a Pongal box‑office launch. However, an assistant director has filed a petition in the Chennai High Court, alleging that the film’s story was stolen from his earlier registered work titled Chemmozhi.
The court has ordered the South Indian Film Writers’ Association to investigate the plagiarism claim and submit a report by January 2, 2026. Both the filmmakers and the petitioner will be required to present their arguments so the court can determine whether the complaint has merit.
With the legal process underway, uncertainty remains over whether Parasakthi will be released on its scheduled date. Fans and industry observers are closely watching developments, as the outcome of the High Court’s directive could impact the film’s release timeline.
