The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced key steps in finalising the electoral rolls for Tamil Nadu ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. A senior EC official will visit the state next week as part of preparations for publishing the final voters list. Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu is scheduled to arrive in Chennai on February 11 to review the ongoing voter list revision process and meet with Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik and senior officials of the State Election Department. The discussions will focus on the progress and readiness for the forthcoming polls. The final electoral roll, which will list all eligible voters, is set to be published on February 17, 2026, following the conclusion of claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Under this process, applications to add, correct, or delete entries were scrutinised after the draft roll publication earlier this year. After Yeturu’s review, the full Election Commission team, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, is expected to visit Tamil Nadu to take decisions on the election schedule, including setting the poll dates.
