Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the ruling All India Trinamool Congress during the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections, asserting that those involved in alleged violence “won’t find a place to hide after May 4,” when the results are scheduled to be announced.
He claimed that the high voter turnout in the first phase of polling reflects a strong public desire for change and signals the “end of jungle raj” in the state.
Addressing election rallies, Modi expressed confidence that the surge in participation—particularly among women and youth—indicates a shift in voter sentiment against the incumbent government led by Mamata Banerjee. He alleged that the current regime has fostered “syndicate rule” and lawlessness, adding that accountability would follow once the election results are declared.
The Prime Minister also assured voters that security forces have been deployed extensively to ensure free and fair polling, urging citizens to vote without fear. Meanwhile, the first phase of the high-stakes West Bengal elections witnessed strong turnout amid sporadic incidents of violence, with political parties trading allegations over poll-related disturbances.
