Chennai, May 5:

In a remarkable political debut, members of the family of Santiago Martin have secured victories in the 2026 Assembly elections across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, marking a significant entry into electoral politics.

According to reports, three key members of the family—Leema Rose Martin, Jose Charles Martin, and Aadhav Arjuna—have all won their respective constituencies.
Leema Rose Martin, contesting from Lalgudi, and Aadhav Arjuna, who represented Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, emerged victorious in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Jose Charles Martin, founder of the Latchiya Jananayaga Katchi (LJK), secured a win in Puducherry as part of the NDA alliance.

What makes the achievement particularly notable is that the three members contested under different political platforms—AIADMK, TVK, and NDA—effectively spreading their political presence across parties and regions. This multi-party strategy has been described by observers as a calculated and unusual approach in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.

The victories underline the growing political influence of the Martin family, which had earlier been known primarily for its business interests. Their success across two Assemblies signals a new phase, with the family emerging as a notable force in regional politics.

Political analysts note that this cross-party success could enhance the family’s bargaining power in the evolving coalition scenario, especially at a time when no single party has secured a clear majority, making every elected representative crucial in government formation.
